our christmas party - work

We went to Carmine on Penn- an italian eatery where we were served family style. The 4 guys and I had a great time, I drank too much Chianti and ate too much but it was wonderful.

A couple of years ago my boss wanted to only do staff and not anyone else to our parties- I am o.k. with this because we often talk about work and we don't know each others spouses too well sometimes. So we go by ourselves and don't take our other halfs. This fact makes Steven crazy! but in the end I think it is good.... he doesn't have to make small talk to other spouses he dosen't even know. They guys had a good time too.

we started with a ceasar salad and a portbello mushroom dish with tomatoes and onions, as an appitizer, mmmm good. we went on to two main dishes , one veal and one with penne and chicken and threes dessert-ah wonderful

Job Jargon- influence and interpretation.

Dawn has a funny one misinterpretation.

I work in an industry prone to jargon things too, when I first started at my current job, it was funny and I kept a list...

A.B. Dick Sucker feet
strippers
gripper fingers
dog and worm
wash up blades
clean up sheets
oscelators
cat wiskers
ecentric shoulder screw
truck
stud
bearing
hanger tubes
rollers
blankets
score and perf
wash bottles
nipple caps

Can you guess what these things belong too? I will send you a RAK gift if you post the correct industy and business that might use these items- in my comments - the verification is turned on so you do have to do that to leave a comment. I will post the winner here and then they can e-mail me with thier information

Why am I ? Me?

I have such a naive nature and a forgiving heart. I don't look for the bad, I would rather forgive ( not forget) - bygones should be left as bygones. Life is too short not to have fun and love others with an unconditional nature and heart.

I want all the good things life has to offer and I want loving relationships in my life, I want to continue to talk to others and give of myself where and when I can. I wish I came from a more " normal family" and that there weren't so many secrets and things that my family didn't want to talk about. skelotons in the closet have started to fall out and it is good to know that the bones can see the light of day. I wish I could be a little more steely and more backbone to stand up and ask the right questions and get some answers even if it hurts. My mom and dad are not getting any younger and we will lose that library soon - I want more history than I am getting....

from the quote of the day site - What is normal?

Ellen Goodman

"Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it."

Yeah this is how I feel somedays! And Other times there is no normal at all, there is going from one crisis to another in time to start on a third. Today there was no normal. Went with J to see the regular thearapist and we had an enlightnig session- he is ready to get to work on getting some of his stuff back, and privilages back too. But it is tough and hard for me to hold out for the trust I need to feel to give him back freedom. so we are trying to get unstuck and move forward in a positive way. wish me the best in this tough job called parenthood.

My boss is away for a week, and today there seemed to be endless crisis - so when it came time to talk to him today I declined, because I really think he needs a break form the everyday grind too, all the really good stuff can wait till later....

I am tired and going to go to bed sooner than later tonight. Steven is worried about me because I am really snoring and he thinks I SHOULD SEE A DOCTOR and take the apnea testing. I am thinking about it too. But who has the time - I am thinking of it though....

we went to the G3 on Saturday!

What is the g3 you ask well it is Gears games and gadgets expo it was held at the convention center Downtown Denver.

Join us for the 3rd Annual Stevinson Automotive Gears, Games & Gadgets, November 12th & 13th, 2005. This year's event promises plenty of interactive games and displays, with cars, trucks, motorcycles, electronics and back by popular demand, the 27,000 gallon scuba tank! With tons of new activities and events, this show is sure to surprise you!

Well it surpized me! it was wonderful, no charge to get in a first for me at the convention center! And great sponcership by Stevensons auto group. Wow lots of really cool and amazing cars, really neat arcades all free and fun for all. We took all the kids and everyone had a grand time looking at all the really fun boy toys for big boys.

there were bikers and cyclists and skate borders and fighters, lots of fun and sites to see, schwag to garner. ... I did not bring my camera much to my dismay , that could have even made it better for me. but there was plenty too keep me occupied.

The boys had a blast and we did a fun family thing. ( Steven's birthday present)

what an interesting blog

I want to share more of my stories lately and this lady hit my spot today I hope you find her as interesting As I do.

" Over the past 15 years or thereabouts, life has directed me to tell stories, and encourage others to do the same. Those of us who "have it bad" likely started out charmed by the connection of hearing a story well told by another. It's a visceral sort of thing, a hunger deep in the soul that we have, that we've probably always had. Experiencing this, we seek to do the same thing ourselves, so we learn some stories, tell them, join storytelling guilds, and then tell some more stories."

" If you're reading this, take a moment when you connect next with another living, breathing soul to share a story. It could be a grand adventure of your youth or the sad tale of loss. Either way, if you can believe it--kernel of truth or nothing but--so too can your listener."

I want to share more of my stories.

Autum Leaves Calendar

DW2006Calendar

Late last week, I got my copy of the Autumn Leaves Desiging with 2006 calendar at Archivers .

For my non-scrapbooking friends and family, this is a page-a-day calendar. Each page has a project idea — some are scrapbook page ideas and some are just general home craft project ideas. A very nice format.

This thing is awesome!!! Truly amazing. Of course, the projects are inspiring. But there is so much more eye candy! Every project is so beautifully photographed with props and all sorts of neat things. Each page is so beautifully laid out. Awesome work from amazingly creative ladies.

I can't wait to get it bound like the one I bought last year. I had a spiral binding put on the top edge

Thanks to Carrie " handle Life with Care" for her post I swiped it and modified it for me

BOYS RISKY BUSINESS

Why do they need to do the things they do? today it was Chew- where does he get it, why does he get Caught? Who is buying it, are there harder drugs? alcohol? why

I don't understand how to reach out to him, and tell him this could be the best time of your life. (high school) Sports, fun, friends- instead it is defiance and disrespect and stress for all of us.

I haven't written alot lately becuase I am consumed by this whole thing, he is my waking thoughts and my dreams. The peer presure? I am not sure where this begins and ends. Why does he need to be a " bad boy" Where does he end up? why can't he see we don't want him on this path.

well enough of this for today.

the things we do

Dyinghttp://www.encyclopediaofanordinarylife.com/pages/excerpts_full.php?id=74_0_3_0_C
Shelving holding five thousand pounds of sheet metal or lumber at Home Depot collapses (imagined)…... Have you ever? And I’m not even touching on the human-calculated varieties: shooting, stabbing, strangulation by (a) someone you know, (b) someone you don’t know, (c) someone disgruntled (postal worker, unappreciated employee, failing student). And we can’t forget malpractice. My sister-in-law died at the age of thirty-two during childbirth because the doctors and nurses missed the red-flagged allergic to anesthesia warning on her medical chart. People don’t die anymore in childbirth, everyone knows that, but yet they do; sweet, stunning, silk-scarf-wearing, multilingual Hilary did. People are just dying everywhere, all the time, every which way. What can the rest of us do but hold on for dear life.

I am looking for comfort for my soul, there comes many times in a girls life when we take stock of the things we need to move forward. I am not moving forward at the moment, just when I take one step out it seems there are two to move me back. The Boys and the Ex’s are enough trouble- then there is the volunteering and other things that consume my time, not allowing me to move forward in any direction it seems.
I know I could be different- I know I could be nice and kind, I wish and pray to god to help me understand forgiveness- some days I am better at it than others. I wish I didn’t have to rely on J’s and HH’s dad ( my ex) to give me anything, I wish it were easier, I wish he would move on with his life. But my grandpa used to say if wishes were horses well beggars would fly. So I guess I need solutions that I can accomplish. I have managed to get S. upset with me too. I am going against the solid advice and front I agreed too with Him for J and D’s Grades, I let J go to the football game today even though he was sporting an F in English last night at parent teacher conferences. This whole thing with J grades and school and his dad it is going to be the death of me. (lol)

little nostalgia

10 Years Ago - October 1995

In October 1995 I was woking for the USGS and still married to my ex. we were living in a house I liked. I was pregnant with HH and enjoying the time to get things ready for her. I didn't know it was a girl at the time.

5 Years Ago - October 2000

I had just left my job at the survey and was going to stay at home with Hh while we did pre-school and got ready for kindergarden. I just met my Friend Kate! her daughter and mine were in the same pre-school class and and all of us became fast friends.

1 Year Ago - October 2004

I was working hard and I thinking ahead to thanks giving and Steven's birthday.

Yesterday - friday
I worked hard all day and then went to the church to hostess a crop, 4 people came, I had fun and altered a little lunch pail, I will post some photos of it soon,we stayed up late , in fact I am bloging instead of being in bed, so I will sign off and get to bed.

I have been tagged I can believe it!!

I've been tagged!

Yep, ANGEL at Swamp_water has tagged me (she always keeps me on my toes) with the Blog Archives and Hidden Meanings tag. Here's how it goes:

1. Delve into your blog archive.

2. Find your 23rd post (or closest to).

3. Find the fifth sentence (or closest to).

4. Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions. Ponder it for meaning, subtext or hidden agendas.

5. Tag five people to do the same

Here is the text per the instruction above, YEAH I feel like a kid too.

This is from a post about a snow day!! and it is the very last line of the post. It was about taking a day off to go play with my children, this is so important to me, I work hard to be sure that they get all that they need, but you know the quality is sometimes- the just being there as a mom. It is also about how I feel when I get to do things I want instead of things that I have to do.

I have had lots to do latley and I do need to keep this in mind more often- take time to just be a Kid or just feel like a kid anyway.

I will come back and tag a few folks in a little while. ( that is what i am supposed to do) but I have sat on this post this week and I want to blog it.

a meme from my friend Ching's blog

This week's MeMe Challenge is: We were all little girls at some point right? Tell us about the one most special childhood memory you have that still brings a smile to your face

This is her memory

here is mine :

When I was about (almost 6) we went to visit my great aunt and uncle who lived in San Antonio TX. We went there over the christmas holiday, it was the year before my little brother Greg was born, so christmas of 1969 and we didn't know how our lives would be changing in lots of ways after this holiday. My older Brother David and I were old enought to start thinking about Santa and not sure if we belived everything.
Well my Dad was raised in a jewish home so we as a family never had a christmas tree, it was the one thing my mom consented too for the holidays. I am not sure she did a tree growing up in war time France. So we really never knew what this tradition was all about. We always had lots of presents and Santa always came down the chimney or through the stove, depositing presents in our well cleaned shoes and boots. So I don't think we ever thought that a tree was a missing item.
So then there was this very special christmas. My great Aunt and Uncle were childless , but my dad thier nefew was a favorite of theirs. When he knew he would be going away to Vietnam in the near future, his aunt and uncle wanted to shre this special time with all of us. Well in south Texas there wasn't any snow, but when we arrived at the home of my great aunt and uncle , my great aunt came running out to tell us we had just missed Santa who had already came and dropped some presents off by Helicopter!!! Well we were impressed and we were excited too- presents already and still the promise of more from my Parents.
that was just the begiing , we stayed a few days before and after christmas with them and every morning at breakfast my aunt had left us a little gift near our placemat. it was so wonderful and what a great holiday. The other part that still makes my holidays special today was the chance to go into my great uncle's property (50 acres on the guadalupe river) and Cut Down my very first Christmas Tree. This Tradition was never in my family home, but he made this such a special thing, that when I married that was one of the best things we got to do every year, get a tree, When I married my DH Steven, it has been even better....we have had artificial trees and this last year we bought a huge tree- we can put it up every year at Thanksgiving and keep it up until new years and I love the sight and thought of it today as much as the first time.
Thanks for the memories. !!!

Then there was a whole lot of folks just dressed in their costumes, some elaborate some not as much.

there were lots of jedi knights in all age brackets from young to old.

striking rose

this was taken at a wedding we attended over the weekend, the coloration is so stiking the striping is so unusual.

the funny pages!

here we all are with our funny mustaches, the kids and I all thought they were hillarious. we bought them in the target Dollar section and we all had a blast trrying them out and snapping photos of each of us. D. really enjoyed them and we all got such a laugh. He likes anything that is like a furry disguise and these definatly fit the bill.
