COOL GRILLING STUFF

Grill-Top Pizza Stone

Turn your outdoor grill into a backyard pizza oven with this stone specially designed for the task. It uses the high heat of the grill to produce brick oven–style pizza with a crisp crust and bubbly-hot toppings. Made specifically for gas grills, the porous clay stone sits within a raised stainless-steel frame. A backsplash keeps toppings contained; the attached thermometer allows you to precisely track grill temperatures. Recipes included. 16 1/4" x 13 3/4".

a self portrait

Interesting - not all that happy with this shot , but it was fun to try out my camera on a night setting and with timer on, I wish I could smile in time : ) I am so critical of myself that it is hard to believe I am posting this up to the web. But at this time in my life this is who I am - I can't get away from it.

Today I had my eyebrows done. This is something I have been doing for two years now, My girl K8 really showed me how nice they look and frame my face when they are natural but not out of control bushy ( think Brooke Sheilds gone wild) - this photo is Pre-waxed. I will post up another in a a couple of days post wax.

I had a hillarious gal from Ghanna, west africa do them today and she did each eye with one swoop. It hurts like hell but I love it. She laughed at my desire to stay on the natural side and said she had recently got caught up in a few more, a few more, and soon they, her brows, are too narrow, so she used " marker" to draw them on. I laughed and sighed and understood.

I had Hh with me when I went to get them done, and she then had to check her own out in the van's re-view mirror, we then had the mother daughter discussion about body hair and when we would like to have done things differently. I told her to try not to shave her blondie legs until she absolutly has too, this is my worst thing and most hairy spot! Underarms on the other hand, well I never let them get very hairy. She laughed, I laughed and we had a moment to be us. Posted by Picasa

Colorstrology- by pantone and M. Bernhardt

I am finding it facinating that the most hits from Google according to my site meter Have to do with my posting about this topic last year. Here is my page about my color on my birthday. I also spelled the topic incorrectly- but my link to pantone and the author's page are still good.

I think I will want this book, a great color reference and intersting topic. I love my pantone book, even if they do bonk me in the head sometimes.

Random thoughts

this was the topic of my friend Kate- she has a blog now too!! yeah K8! I too read this article in Creating Keepsakes Mag this month by Becky Higgins Scrapper... And I am not sure my random thoughts are scrapbook worthy for an entire day? or page? I am constantly battling the block that comes from having a cluttered space. And it muddles my mind too.

but may be I will start to rethink this a bit .... but for now less random and more structure is what my space needs at the very least.

Scrap Daddy always has funnies on Friday

"Any man, in the right situation, is capable of murder. But not any man is capable of being a good camper. So, murder and camping are not as similar as you might think." McDaddy's blog

Photos courtesy of the NPS web site.

Both big boys are off with Scouts this weeknd to the Great Sand Dunes NP
J has wanted to go there for a long time, and we always seem to miss this trip with whomever we plan it with.

My Friend Karen and I talked about a girls retreat here too, I think I may need to plan that, but NO camping we will stay near by and enjoy the Park if we want a good time.

dog tired

I am tired from our little trip, work and kids and all the other things I DO for everyone else. I am putting together a little album for our retiring rector and the weekly bullitin and alter duty at church, not to mention my boss is gone for two days- too much to DO!

inside look at my soul, yes yes hnnm does look like me

What Your Soul Really Looks Like

You are quite expressive and thoughtful. You see the world in a way that others are blind to.

You are a grounded person, but you also leave room for imagination and dreams. You feet may be on the ground, but you're head is in the clouds.

You see yourself with pretty objective eyes. How you view yourself is almost exactly how other people view you.

Your near future is in a very different place (both physically and mentally) from where you are right now.

For you, love is all about caring and comfort. You couldn't fall in love with someone you didn't trust.

Back to the future

not really but back to work. We took the Mustang and had a great trip to KS- too short, but I was happy to sleep in my own bed last night.

I hope you missed me a little bit.

here is the quote on my calendar today :

I breathed a song into the air;
It fell to earth, I know not where.....
and the song, from
begining to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

Life Lessons

The great lesson is that the sacred is in the ordinary, that it is to be found in one's daily life, in one's neighbors, friends, and Family, in one's backyard.

Abraham Maslow

Fun days in the sun, Hh went to a friend's house ( apartment) and they swam in the pool yesterday. It reached a high of 97 degrees here and it is supposed to be hotter today.

We are in the middle of trying to call a new rector for the church- and Last night we had an emergency meeting- it was hot and ran late, the boys were at a scout function at a local pool doing a swim check. We picked them up later than the meeting time, and made the scout leaders wait, for us. I made S call and apologize - our bad, we tried to fit too many things into too small a time frame. Bad choice on our part. {So again I would like to say Sorry for making you wait for us to pick up the boys Karen- and Art- some times she reads my blog to see what I am up too. We didn't want to incovience you or others, we made a bad choice- begging forgiveness please}

We are going to get a " priest in charge" most likely and we need to be moving along and making a decission. We have interviewed our canidate the diosceses provided for us. I think most of us like him, he is very different than our current rector.

I have been feeling poorly - my feet and ankles have been swollen for more than a week, my doctor didn't have any earth shattering revelations for me on Monday. But they are better this morning finnally. Hh and I have slacked for a week on our walking regime, she is out of school for the summer and our routine has been disrupted. So need to get back to my monitoring and pedometering!

well that is about it for the moment anyway

Best friends

Your Best Friend is the Person Who brings Out of you the Best That is Within You.

--- Henry Ford

This would be S for the best. He is a wonderful man, father, son, lover and my best friend.

I have other friends too and I am happy to report that this applies to them too, K8, Karen, Shelley - I am better for having them in my life.

Enough already !

I Wish You Enough

At an airport I overheard a father and
daughter in their last moments
together. They had announced her
departure and standing near the
security gate, they hugged and he said,
"I love you, I wish you enough."

She in turn said, "Daddy, our life together
has been more than enough.
Your love is all I ever needed,
I wish you enough, too, Daddy."

They kissed and she left. He walked over
toward the window where I was
seated. Standing there I could see he
wanted and needed to cry. I tried not
to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed
me in by asking, "Did you
ever say good-bye to someone
knowing it would be forever?"

"Yes, I have," I replied, "forgive me
for asking, but why is this a
forever good-bye?" I asked.

"I am old and she lives much too far away.
I have challenges ahead and
the reality is, the next trip back
would be for my funeral," he said.

"When you were saying good-bye I heard you
say, 'I wish you enough. "May
I ask what that means?"

He began to smile. "That's a wish that
has been handed down from other
generations. My parents used to say
it to everyone." He paused for a
moment and looking up as if trying to remember
it in detail, he smiled even more.

"When we said 'I wish you enough,' we
were wanting the other person to
have a life filled with just enough
good things to sustain them," he
continued and then turning toward me
he shared the following as if he were
reciting it from memory.

I wish you enough sun to keep your
attitude bright. I wish you enough
rain to appreciate the sun more. I
wish you enough happiness to keep your
spirit alive. I wish you enough pain
so that the smallest joys in life appear
much bigger. I wish you enough gain
to satisfy your wanting. I wish you
enough loss to appreciate all that you
possess. I wish enough "Hello's" to get
you through the final "Good-bye."

Tears filled his eyes and he walked away.

My friend, I wish you enough!
So my friends, I WISH YOU ENOUGH!!!!!
