blazing along

can you believe it is the end of october already? we went and bought some fun stuff for a halloween get together with the scout troup tomorrow night, will post up photos of all the fun costumes and stuff after tomorrow night.

I am already done with one read through of Living Artfully - great book inspiring, and pleasing and hopefully I can now move forward with my love of scrappping. I hooked into real women scrapbook too, Tasra Dawson has a great web site and I added her to my blog roll. So I am working on allowing art back into my life everyday even in the little things I already do ! I am glad to have permission to call myself artful and live that way most of the time without even really realizing that I already do lots of great things and do them well and creatively.

For all of us, whether we walk old paths or blaze new trails, friends remain important. ~~ lois wyse

A Great Day - with friends

We worked hard at the church today- painting, prepping for winter, trimming trees and basic other assorted hard work. our Friends Karen and Art and their kids D and A. Hh and SSD and SSd2- no J he was " gone fishing" , we had lots of church help and W. and his mom Carol from the troop came too. what a great turn out. Jane and M. were industrious too.

we had the secret ingredient Chili! ( venison) and hot dogs and cookies. all the kids were great.

"In fact, I think she even managed to slip some elk or porcupine or something into a dish she served when Mom, daughter, and I last visited in 2005. (Who has these things in her freezer?!) It was one of those normal foods that you take a serving of on the side but I wound up eating something like four helpings and vaguely remember holding the empty serving bowl and licking the spoon because it was that damn good. When I finally asked what the secret ingredient is, I wished that I had not asked what the secret ingredient is. (Duh! That’s why it’s a secret!) Really, what use was it to me anyway?"

I still am not up to 100% coughing gets me down, so I took it pretty easy. With my boss gone all week last week, the snowy weather and all the work and commitments I have not had time to rest and get well.... looking forward to a bit of a break soon, but I may have to wait until thanksgiving.

the guideposts

To be glad of life, because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars;.... to think seldom of your enemies, often of your friends and every day of Christ; and to spend as much time as you can , with body and with spirit in God's out-of-doors--- theses are little guideposts on the footpath to peace.

living artfully - here is the buzz

Michelle at scrap rants has a great review of this book and Katie the scrapbook lady also has a small review and very cute photos , and those two reviews lead me to buy this book today, I will be posting more about it as I get into the meat of it.

this is listed as an art & self help book! right up my alley for sure. I can't wait to learn more about me and my art. A review on the book jacket says "Magsamen's book is full of warmth , beauty creativity and a deep love for the world and all that is in it..... a practical vision for a meaningful , joyful life." -- Roger Housden

A FIRM WALL

Indeed, we do not really live
unless we have friends
surrounding us like a firm wall
against the winds of the world.

tent in center is where I spent two nights

I really enjoyed my time camping with the boys, I brought a cot, but managed to get the worst of the sleeping bags we own! a gap in the zipper ment I could not zip it up all the way where I needed it. So my big brown coat had to make do as an extra blanket. Friday night was VERY cold and Saturday evening we had rain starting at about 9:15 so everyone was in tents and quite long before the 10 pm lights out. Suaturday night I tried putting my coat on the wrongway with my arms in it and hood in front, but I am a stomach sleeper and had to give up this position to roll over.

The best couple of things were the " cuddl duds" long underwear and my new timberland boots I got at DSW about a month ago. The cuddle duds are Polyester and Spandex and the warm and light weight plus slippery enough to roll and slide into the sleeping bag. I highly recomend them and this is my second pair.

The timberland boots I bought are lightweight with a high ankle support and thinsulate but very ventallated and have some special wicking thing in the soles cause my feet were warm and comfy all weekend.

The boys all did well and enjoyed all the varied activitys the theme of the camporee was return to camolot and mid-evil themes abound, there were reggattas in the lake and mountain boarding and joisting and hand combat kinds of fun stuff, along with black powder and archery and rifle shooting ranges. One fellow made homemade rootbeer and that was a hit too.

My only complaint was the " facilities" there were none marked for Women only and little boys do not aim very well. the first morning I thought I might not be able to tollerate it, but then thought of the old trick my dad taught us -- light matches-- not as good a a stick of insence but it made it somewhat bearable - J and I hiked up a mile to reach a portapotty that had not been used and smelled pretty nice and flowery (LOL) that I could use and sit and not be bothered. It was worth the hike and time together !

overall it was a great weekend. Posted by Picasa

been MIA

I am suffering after my Mamogram - I think and the dr. thinks I pulled a muscle in my peck !! well it hurts and I can't sleep or type or do anything in comfort for the last week or so.

I take a couple of advil but then they wearoff about 3 hours later and I am back at it again. the Doctor Suggested Aleve and that doesn't really help me with the pain like the advil seems too.

I had the doctor and nurse laughing at my discription of the twist and press and pose and hold your breath I had to do to get a picture(xray ) of my left pecktoral muscle. I complained about a little heart fluttering as well and they did an EKG nothing too seroius to report there - at least I wasn't having a heart attack- yikes - that would be bad, radiating pain from the left shoulder and heart flutters!!!

So I went to the doctor and then stayed home monday of this wekk as well as last week.

We went to a cougar car show over the weekend and I will try to get some muscle cars up to share here on my blog. I volunteered to do the monthly news letter for the colorado cougar club - the Cougar nationals will be here next year that is pretty exciting news too.
