radio ready

Self-Powered and Solar-Powered AM/FM/Shortwave Radio with NOAA Weatherband, Flashlight, Siren and Cell Phone Charger
When your outdoor adventures take you off the grid, you need a device that can fill multiple needs. The American Red Cross FR500 is a compact unit that you can toss in your rucksack and take anywhere. It functions as an AM, FM, and shortwave radio with NOAA weatherband. It also has a flashlight, an emergency beacon, and an emergency siren. Plus, you can use it to charge your cell phone or MP3player. This little wonder can be powered with the hand crank, or solely by the sun—solar panels make this a very “green” device. Of course, battery power and AC power are also options.
This cool product came to our home about a month ago - but I have had a busy month and haven't had a chance to say how cool it is, I have never had a weather radio before, now S has since he was raised in a tornado prone area. but with all the snow and bad weather wehave had the last couple of years it is nice to have.
This came as a gift from PJ and OLLIE - a big thanks for the fun stuff they always find for us.

Wii wish you a Merry Christmas

We bought a Wii- not yet hooked up but that was our gift this year. I am looking forward to " playing"

the other blessing is mom is home now, after nearly a month of hospitalization and care. I am truely happy because my dad was a lost soul without her, She has always run the house and he didn't know where to begin with her gone! I managed to get quite a bit of time to be with him and her - thank god. It sucks being in the sandwich generation.

we will spend time together with friends tonight and that will make a great holiday. Tomorrow i am off and I promised Hh some new Pj Flannel pants. I will post them when completed and modeled by the girl. So overall this has be a pretty weird christmas, not a lot of gift buying, not alot of fussing at home. more effort into making sure that everyone was well taken care of.

More photos if you follow my side bar link to flickr- happy holidays y'all

Your Christmas is Modern
Your wish for the New Year is more happiness.

For you, Christmas is a spiritual holiday. You can't separate it from your beliefs.

You are patient when it comes to Christmas. You don't celebrate too early, and you don't like seeing holiday decorations in October.

You like Christmas traditions, but you're not uptight about them. You do things your way.

You like to celebrate Christmas your own way, and you don't like to have to compromise.

You love Christmas. You enjoy almost every aspect and tradition of the holidays.

You give a big during the holidays but nowhere near as much as you'd like to.

really bad head cold

it sent me home from work on friday! wish I felt better.

will update more in a few days, will be in Colorado springs on monday and fill in more details about recovery - then for my mom.

trying to lay low, to attend S's christmas dinner tonight at the Broker.

here are my newest altered things!

Secret santa is on his way!

at work we have a secret santa exchange, we draw names and the value of the gift is 15 dollars or less. Last year I draw Sam ( a man) and made him an mobile- picture hanging one with homemade christmas cards and tags. Everyone ranted and raved, but my suppervisor really ranted, she wanted me to be her secret santa for sure " next year" well it is next year, we drew names, I didn't get her's but my co-worker who did get the supervisors name ask if I wanted to exchange so I for sure get my supervisor's name?? well I accepted- but my co-worker said on one condition, that I get tto have you as my secret santa- next year!!! well I guess my skills are in high demand.

so what did I make you might want to know? - I purchased three unfinished trays at hobby lobby- the kind that are made of thin plywood and pine? I then went to the scrapbook isle to see what I could find to put in the bottoms of the trays, and found a k& comp. scrapbook kit with stickers, paper and rub-ons that I bought too, the papers and stickers liook a bit festive and could pass for christmas, reds and greens- but are quite homey too and will do for most any time of the year.

I used extra chipboard - and cut and pieced it to fin the bottom of each tray, then used modpodge and put the paper on the boards, and the boards in the bottom of each tray. I gave it tow more layers of modpodge on top of the paper and stickers and rub-ons - then decided it really needed a coat of varnish ( polyureatane) so that is what I worked on last night while we watched t.v.

well I took photos this morning and posted them up to flikr- you can see them there and so I could attach them here. Let me know what you think of my lates altered project- my supervisor needs to be very happy that my co-worker traded with me!!!

Pantone's color of the year 2009

2008 press releases
Pantone Selects Color of the Year for 2009: PANTONE 14-0848 Mimosa
Mimosa Embodies Hopefulness and Reassurance in a Climate of Change
CARLSTADT, N.J., Dec. 3, 2008 - Pantone, an X-Rite company (NASDAQ: XRIT), and the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, today announced PANTONE® 14-0848 Mimosa, a warm, engaging yellow, as the color of the year for 2009. In a time of economic uncertainty and political change, optimism is paramount and no other color expresses hope and reassurance more than yellow.

"The color yellow exemplifies the warmth and nurturing quality of the sun, properties we as humans are naturally drawn to for reassurance," explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. "Mimosa also speaks to enlightenment, as it is a hue that sparks imagination and innovation."

Best illustrated by the abundant flowers of the Mimosa tree and the sparkle of the brilliantly hued cocktail, the 2009 color of the year represents the hopeful and radiant characteristics associated with the color yellow. Mimosa is a versatile shade that coordinates with any other color, has appeal for men and women, and translates to both fashion and interiors. Look for women's accessories, home furnishings, active sportswear and men's ties and shirts in this vibrant hue.

Mimosa is also one of the 3,000 colors available in Pantone’s line of superior-quality, eco-friendly paint. PANTONE Paints combine the accuracy of PANTONE Colors with the beauty of high-performance Dutch paints. Perfect for the kitchen or family room, painting a wall in Mimosa will add warmth and cheerfulness to any room, especially during the winter months. Mimosa also creates the illusion of being connected to the outside, making small rooms feel open and inviting.
I think this is the color I chose for the guest bedroom- funny huh??

adventures in appendicits

here is a full citation at wikipedia about appendicitis.

why are you interested in this?? well, on Friday after thanksgiving at BBD's house mom started to have pain, she vomited and was dozing on and off for quite a while. When we arrived back to the house, after shopping in the afternoon, she had a lot of pain, Drama ensued and I didn't get my way which was suggested that we take her into Cheyenne and get her medical need evaluated.

instead she went to bed, we got up the next morning, pack and headed out, her and Dad followed shortly thereafter and made in home to CO springs on Saturday afternoon. I went to my house in Denver and then I went to their house on Sunday night. ( a long torturous commute- in terrible weather and traffic. but that is a story for a different day!)

so the saga continued, when I arrived at their house, mom had been in a robe all day ( not like her at all) she had a tough time staying awake and a tougher time getting into her large tall bed. that evening I suggested a pain pill and she took one then slept well through the night, she felt better on Monday am and off to work I went, asking her to please phone her doctor. well she didn't do that, and as the day wore on her pain increased again. So she was in so much pain by early evening, my dad called 911 and brought the fire-emt's to the house. They transported her to Memorial hospital and they , did a cat scan, then held her to have surgery at 6:00 am.

so this morning- I came back to CO. springs . she had the appendix removed and then had a tough time in recovery. they had her on a breather until about 4:30 pm today . She has been a smoker for many years and this was a contributing factor to her difficult recovery, but when we left to go back to their condo, then she was doing all right .

so a few more days at the hospital and then a recovery time, of about 30 days can be expected.
