quest 2k7

This is what I will be doing this weekend- quest 2k7 2 tickets to paradise

I am taking both J and SSD1 to Buena Vista tommorrow along with a couple of other boys from church- seems our youth are mainly male LOL. Our Pastor is going to be the lead chaplain for the weekend, that is pretty cool. And I am pretty charged to go to camp for a weekend.

I will be sporting my camera - so I will post up some pics on the flip.

Spent a session with a councilor and J this week and learned a few things, have been tasked with a few things and one will be to do Mom /Son activities for the " fun" of it, like a date day or something like that... this is tough cause I don't really know what is fun for him, hopefully we can come up with some ideas. If you think of something leave me a comment.

Geeeee I think I needed this

Our job is to love others without stopping to inquire whether or not they are worthy. That is not our business and, in fact, it is nobody's business. What we are asked to do is to love, and this love itself will render both ourselves and our neighbors worthy if anything can.

- Thomas Merton

Sometimes God has a way of telling you a couple of times what needs to get into your fat head I needed to see this in print today and keep on trying to find ways to live like this more often.

the shape of things to come?

the changing shape of girls has been a bit of a struggle the last few months.... we are no longer the girlish can fit in " kids Clothing" shape, and we are in need of foundation pieces ( see below for the lime green bra) .... this is a tough place to be, not a junior yet, not fitting just right in anything, between pants sizes and bathing suits that don't fit, and the purchase this evening of 40$ worth of bathing seperates almost put me over the edge if you know what I mean.

and hair and make-up and shaving?? then there is the growing and changing unit at school- the teacher said i didn't need to go, I have already been through this with 3 boys...... but you know it still is different with a girlly.

Shoebox cards, great friends and photos

this book is too funny, I had to have my own personal copy - 20 years of so funny stuff , I saw it at Kate's house when we were there for spring break.

We ( Kate and I ) have had an ongoing card affair for about 4-5 years now. We don't own stock in hallmark but ....we could. I think I have purchased every one of the fresh ink line and sent them off to Kate, and other cards as well. They make me laugh and touch me and fill my life with joy. The cards record the everyday, the celebrations, the sadness and tribulations, they mark milestones and mundanes and they make me happy.

they reside in my house, in my car, in my purse, in my memento box and in my heart. They are Just Right . Another came in the mail yesterday filled with photos!! !! It is a funny card and S didn't get it but I laughed right off. On the front is woman at a desk in an office setting and it reads " the other day I clipped a recipe out of a magazine to prepare it at home." and on the inside it says. " Then I laughed and laughed . You should have been there. " I am so glad my friend Kate " gets me" I laughed and laughed too.

The photos are of our time together and the ones from Kate's camera- along with a disk and prints. I love that they are the same and different from the ones I took. That is the beauty of the camera and the eye of a friend. I am in love with her photos and perspective on the same events with different twists. I love a photo of sock and shoes that I had not seen the day we went to the zoo, oh I saw the socks- but this photo is the " girls" to a T, I took another perspective of them hair and head bands from the back, it is the " girls" to a T as well. The Girls are so funny together and have such funny taste ( though totally similar) they had a discovery the very first night we were there of a Lime green bra, that each one of them had one bought at totally separate times and in different locations. We laughed so hard we cried, with the funny antics and performances we watched that included the lime bras and the matching panties. Then the next day they were wearing the bras and little cami's and the socks and the sneakers. I am so happy that Kate " sees" through her lens a different view than I do .... I also made prints and left a disk of all my photos for her. I hope she will choose some to post up on her blog as well. there are some of me and some of Hh and lots of fun stuff altogether. We had a blast and now I think an Nebraska album may be in order.

I have layouts from our scrap days together too. I am so glad to get my mojo on at your house - Kate - and that we set up the table and got at the fun stuff.

the roller skating museum

this was a cute piece of advertising, for pepsi
this wall was up front when we arrived just in the foyer - just a taste of what was to come inside.
see those plaid padded keep on your own shoe skates, I think my first pair of skates was just like those. then my older brother got a pair that looked a bit like the red shoe skates in the back.

this is the first patent for skates. The whole place was a blast! I liked it alot. if you are at all interested in skating on wheels this is a place to go.

friends :) always wear the same clothes

For about 6 years now at some point during picture taking we have managed to wear these clothes- the last day of my stay in NE with Kate we deliberately had Hh take this picture with our favorite things to wear :)

Ranking these pages - Colorology/ colorstrology

this is a post from along time ago, about Colorstrology
Interestingly this is a post that gest lots of hits in the search engines of life on the internet. The original post and then one more post later with the corrected spelling still draw the intrest of pantone color theorists and astologers wanting to know what color influences their life. :)

This is what the site says about my aniversary date ! here is the web site location for Colorstrology

Your

No wonder I am having fits with J

this is from the bbc web pages
Teenage mood swing hormone found

Kevin the teenager is one of the most famous stroppy teenagersTeenage mood swings are known to be down to hormones, but scientists claim they have identified the specific one that makes adolescents so volatile.
A team from the State University of New York identified a hormone which normally acts to calm anxiety, but the effect is reversed in adolescence.
Writing in Nature Neuroscience, the researchers say it may be possible to reverse the puberty effect.
And they add the study should help parents and teachers understand teens.
There is a biological basis for a teenager's mood swings
Dr Sheryl Smith
A hormone called THP is normally released in response to stress.
It usually behaves like a tranquiliser, acting at sites in the brain that calm brain activity and, in adults and pre-pubescent children, helps someone cope with stress.
But a mouse study by the New York team shows THP actually increases anxiety at puberty.
'Things are harder for teenagers'
They found that the target for the hormone, a specific receptor, is more prevalent in the part of the brain which regulates emotion during puberty.
This appears to reverse the normal calming effect.
Dr Sheryl Smith, who led the study says it is so far unclear why this happens, but she suggests it is because of the action of all the other hormones which come into play at puberty.
Dr Smith and her team were able to genetically alter the receptor to reverse the puberty effect.
She said it might also be possible to block the effect of the hormone.
But Dr Smith said more research was needed before that was possible, and a more immediate benefit of the research might be to help parents and teachers understand what teenagers were going through.
"This research has revealed that there is a biological basis for a teenager's mood swings.
"They can be frustrating for parents and teachers - as well as the adolescents.
"As adults, we just deal with things, but it is harder for teenagers because of their biology. I think it's important for people to know that."

Well this is pretty interesting, though not helpful when J states how much he hates me and living in my home, how terrrible his whole life is and why his sister, stepbrothers are fat and not caring about being outside, I have taken away his only means of happiness the ability to be outside! he thought he was riding his bike well enough 6 months ago to be sponcered, but no we won't help him buy a new 600 dollar bike he wants to keep up with the " jones" and then well he can get sponcered . And Gee I told him trust fund babies and kids who have richer parents are the ones who can let there kids ride bikes and snowboards, instead of working and being a responsible adult. as you can tell I am over him for sure, I am looking forward to pawning him off on my friend Alice, out in Brush and be on my way to a girls vacation next week.

Where I come from (WIF)

I am from a book that held my name before I was born, from Quaker grits and hardened stock of French train men.
I am from the wilds of Germany, before the Berlin wall fell, the Rockies covered in purple mountain majesty and the suburban areas were I live.
I am from the sun and the moon, the earth and the sky. I crave a time long ago when the pioneers came west.
I am from breakfasts in the early morning and grey hair in the early 30’s , from Lacoste and Spector and Golden roots .
I am from the unconditional lovers and the artists.
From silly fingers in belly buttons and sweet dispositions.
I am from Jewish, Catholic, and found my own way Episcopalian.
I'm from Germany, France, and Connecticut Yankee, I am bushe de noel and steak and potatoes. Plain and fancy.
From the romantic story of my mom and dad’s love affair, the joy of a Christmas morning spent in the southwest Texas sun with great aunt Frieda and great uncle Nick and the warmth of love in the hearts of my brothers David and Greg
I am from scrapbooks done by my Grandma Ann and Aunt Sunny, photo albums from my mom and photographs from my Dad ,black and white stills of a life led around the globe, super 8 tapes transferred to video. Priceless mementos of an international existence for a down home little girl.
I am from a book that held my name before I was born, the bible says I am a beautiful woman, I say I am powerful and creative and I can handle it.

this is the link to the WIF web with a template
and here is where i first ran into this an blogger with a prize at the party below

I thought this was pretty darn cool and will use it in a scrapbook page I think or at least include it in my book of ME.

WOW what a party

Can you believe all those comments below. What a nice thing to do, I have been visiting others blogs too. Pretty neat to see all those other ladies doing cool things and really setting up the party.

a blog party !! ?? !!!

Ultimate Blog Party
this is 5 minutes for mom web site, kind of a neat idea web party they are giving away prizes.
I am going back to see what prizes I want.

a team sport! scrapbooking

" When accepting his award for best supporting actor at the Academy Awards on Sunday, Alan Arkin, the grandfather in “Little Miss Sunshine,” called acting a “team sport.” “I can’t work at all unless I feel the spirit of unity around me,” he said.
So many creative pursuits are like this, aren’t they? We thrive when we surround ourselves with others who value creativity and who challenge us to grow and try new things. I know when my creativity’s blocked, if I stop and chat with a friend about what’s stumping me, the ideas will be flowing again in no time. "

Katie Hilbert, newsletter editor for memory makers magazine

I love this quote and thought from Alan and from Katie!! I can't wait to do a team sport soon with my pals-
