a saga with Ice cream

I have a thing - a problem if you will- with a particular need, I like a certain sundae at Dairy Queen.... I have been ordering it for years with varying degrees of success. I started out innocently enough when I was in high school.... my Junior year, I dated a young man ( my first Love) he would treat me to dairy queen on dates. I would order my treat and we would enjoy time together out side and summer evenings were the best. This particular item ( special order) would stay with me, the ultimate for me in indulgences and/or just a feel better treat-- to take me back to a time of remember when. I continued to order it on occasion if I treated myself to ice cream during my first marriage. it was more of a comfort food then..... and a joy full treat it has been on occasion when it is made to my satisfaction during my marriage to S.

But the Dark side to this saga is just how wrong it is on most occasions, and sadly it has really nothing to do with me ordering it incorrectly.... it really has to do with the sloppy nature of the service industry today and in the last few years. It sometimes gets corrected if I fuss or refuse to take it the way it is made. I some times ( like tonight) gets hidden inside a bag to be discovered later at home..... it sometimes can be done over with much fuss, it can be done correctly if I don't go through the drive thru but instead hover over the counter help who will make my treat.
When it is done wrong though - that really pisses me off!!!! It really makes me angry when a customer devoted industry doesn't listen or repeat back and order from a customer. So this evening I was PISSED OFF due to this lack of attention to the customer, lack of detail in repeating orders back, lack luster service provided by young people behind a counter at my most local dairy queen store.

So you may ask, just what do you get and how bad can they screw it up??? Well I will tell you my special request..... a Cherry sundae made with Chocolate SoftServe and nut topping, and whip cream. Really not too hard, but the help can-not manage an unusual combination. so very rarely these days do I get this correct unless I stand over the counter help and shake my head and make noise.... this requires NO drive thru.... so I don't have time to always breathe down the necks of those making my sundae. Well tonight they missed again and messed it up, the drive thru distorted my request and somehow I didn't get chocolate soft serve. ah well the saga will continue......

personality type hype?

You Are An ENFJ
The Giver

You strive to maintain harmony in relationships, and usually succeed.
Articulate and enthusiastic, you are good at making personal connections.
Sometimes you idealize relationships too much - and end up being let down.
You find the most energy and comfort in social situations ... where you shine.

In love, you are very protective and supporting.
However, you do need to "feel special" - and it's quite easy for you to get jealous.

At work, you are a natural leader. You can help people discover their greatest potential.
You would make a good writer, human resources director, or psychologist.

How you see yourself: Trusting, idealistic, and expressive

When other people don't get you, they see you as: Bossy, inappropriate, and loud

a whirlwind has been set in motion

I am completely busy at work! and home and at church! - but that is life at the moment, it has just picked up pace and moved.

the Web team I am on is going along, but the place that has been busy is our web site for our open enrollment online. It won't mean much to all my blogging buddies but here is the URL if you are interested in seeing what has consumed my time.

I also recorded some presentation pieces- the Faculty and Exempt professional and the retiree one, so if you want a little laugh or the hear me ( my co-workers say I have a calming voice!!) then you can go through a presentaion or even a little bit of it! my first broadcast .....

we had a vestry retreat for St. James yesterday and that is full of work on what direction we will be visioning in the future. I think overall it went well, but we still haven't found a place to " spend" some of our money.

I am off to make breakfast for the gang at home, then off to church, have a wonderful sunday. chiao

silly feet say a bunch

What Your Feet Say About You:
You are pretty average in your expressiveness. You can express yourself well, but you don't always want to.

You are a very passionate person. You are highly charged and easily inspired.

You are an assertive person at times. You'll pull out all the stops to get what you want, if it's worth it.

You take a while to fall in love, but once you do, you stay pretty attached to your partner.

You are not afraid of anything. You are brave and courageous, even when most people would be terrified.

You are intellectual and philosophical. You are more concerned with thoughts than action.

You are an amazingly hard worker. You aren't spoiled and you don't mind getting your hands dirty.

You are easily influenced by other people. You're quite impressionable, so you should only be around people who are a good influence.

All beaded! A fantastic evening

This is my Troop Guide- and over on the far side the ScoutMaster for my Woodbadge course. I am getting my new neckwear and with me are SSD1 and Hh and my S- This was one of the best nights ever for me in Scouting. We had a great turn out and a nice Dinner and a large cake. Here we are All my Patrol mates - we are doing the antelope cheer- look up on the slope there's an antelope!
We agreed that the patrol flag would go to the person who is getting their beads, Brian got it for 4 short days, I get it until the next person beads and then I will take it to them for their beading. what a fantastic support system.
this is about number 5 in a series of photos that S took, with Me and my Boss and my supervisor! we laughed and chatted our way through most of the photos S took but this one really cracked me up- my expression in priceless.
All in all this was a lovely way to spend an evening. my friends, my family, my troop and a great bunch of boys!

Beading - I am number three from WE5 61 2 07

Well I am going to actually get my second bead, having completed my tickets, I am going to do it at my troop's court of honor. Tomorrow night my troop, my patrol mates and my boss and supervisor, and most importantly my family will be there to support my most important work I have done for myself.

I feel that this course really opened up my abilities- it gave me confidence to move forward and lead ( boys and my work team) my troop too. It has given me confidence in my work too. This was one of the most profound experiences I have had in my life. I would highly recomend it to fellow scouters. It really is worth the time spent to learn that you can just say ON!

A big thanks to my Friends Karen and Art, with out thier ongoing help and support I wouldn't have done it. A big thanks to my S for his love and support and making sure the home fires stayed burning. A big thanks to my boss Michelle for allowing me to go to the weekends when I just had started my new job and had no leave! A big thanks to my Patrol mates whom were there at every turn supporting an " old Lady" I can't say enough about my new guy friends.

We will take some photos tomorrow and I will post a couple in a few days. I am the third person from my Course to receive my beads, my patrol mate beat me by a week:)

Thinker

Your Thinking is Abstract and Random
You are flexible, adaptable, and creative.
There's many ways that you can learn - and you're up for any of them.

You relate well to other people, and you do well working in groups.
You can help people communicate together and work with each other's strengths.

You don't work well with people who are competitive or adversarial.
You prefer to work toward a common goal... not toward conflicting goals.
What Kind of Thinker Are You?

Pikes Peak

I took this photo on Wed. April 2nd on the way down to Colorado Springs, this is I-25 going south and the veiw is Pikes Peak up ahead. This veiw always thrills me on my way home, some times if you are in Denver you can see Pikes peak too, but you have to have a very clear day and the the right location for veiwing, but once you are on your way south well here it is!! right there in your face. I like that it is snow covered still, this is the way I always think of this veiw.

I went to Colorado Springs today

to celebrate Carol's life, she had a wonderful service and there where so many people there to send her off.

The hardest part was seeing her child - 13 years old - being a strong girl. She brought us to tears with a touching tribute to her mom. This was so moving. The sisters at the monastary were wonderful and the service spiritual.

I went to the grave as well, we took some flowers ( pink roses) from her casket , many people got that as a rememberence.

So for tonight I am tired and cried out. and off to bed, I have to process this unreal event - I will post up a couple of photos I took maybe in a few days. bear with me as I greive a little bit.
