a meme from my friend Ching's blog

This week's MeMe Challenge is: We were all little girls at some point right? Tell us about the one most special childhood memory you have that still brings a smile to your face

This is her memory

here is mine :

When I was about (almost 6) we went to visit my great aunt and uncle who lived in San Antonio TX. We went there over the christmas holiday, it was the year before my little brother Greg was born, so christmas of 1969 and we didn't know how our lives would be changing in lots of ways after this holiday. My older Brother David and I were old enought to start thinking about Santa and not sure if we belived everything.
Well my Dad was raised in a jewish home so we as a family never had a christmas tree, it was the one thing my mom consented too for the holidays. I am not sure she did a tree growing up in war time France. So we really never knew what this tradition was all about. We always had lots of presents and Santa always came down the chimney or through the stove, depositing presents in our well cleaned shoes and boots. So I don't think we ever thought that a tree was a missing item.
So then there was this very special christmas. My great Aunt and Uncle were childless , but my dad thier nefew was a favorite of theirs. When he knew he would be going away to Vietnam in the near future, his aunt and uncle wanted to shre this special time with all of us. Well in south Texas there wasn't any snow, but when we arrived at the home of my great aunt and uncle , my great aunt came running out to tell us we had just missed Santa who had already came and dropped some presents off by Helicopter!!! Well we were impressed and we were excited too- presents already and still the promise of more from my Parents.
that was just the begiing , we stayed a few days before and after christmas with them and every morning at breakfast my aunt had left us a little gift near our placemat. it was so wonderful and what a great holiday. The other part that still makes my holidays special today was the chance to go into my great uncle's property (50 acres on the guadalupe river) and Cut Down my very first Christmas Tree. This Tradition was never in my family home, but he made this such a special thing, that when I married that was one of the best things we got to do every year, get a tree, When I married my DH Steven, it has been even better....we have had artificial trees and this last year we bought a huge tree- we can put it up every year at Thanksgiving and keep it up until new years and I love the sight and thought of it today as much as the first time.
Thanks for the memories. !!!

striking rose

this was taken at a wedding we attended over the weekend, the coloration is so stiking the striping is so unusual.

the funny pages!

here we all are with our funny mustaches, the kids and I all thought they were hillarious. we bought them in the target Dollar section and we all had a blast trrying them out and snapping photos of each of us. D. really enjoyed them and we all got such a laugh. He likes anything that is like a furry disguise and these definatly fit the bill.

Bloging Crushes

by the way of Angie Peterson @the blog of me ( see side bar for link)

Blog Crushes

BlogcrushThings have gotten a little heavy in some of the latest comment threads here at ProBlogger so I thought it might be time to put a little love in the air and have some fun.

So I’m suggesting we make the next 7 days about naming our Blog Crushes.

Do you have a crush on another blogger? I don’t mean an actual crush - rather is there a blog or blogger out there that you really admire? Maybe you’re too scared to let them know or are afraid that your admiration is unrequited?

So Angie Names a few of her crushes- And I will name a few of mine- I wait daily for Michelle at Scrapablity to update her blog- she is up on the latest and greatest and I aspire to be like her when my blog matures

and then there is Angie- Sucessful Book Author- Book of Me
I love her style and her sense, she is always challenging herself and others to look to the best source of our stories- ourselves, and include us and our relationships in our books.

There is Teri Fode {snapshots}
this is one talented lady and such a spirit of giving and her heart and mind are in the right place for god to work through her. She takes great photos and does cool things with her scrap supplies, very clever and to the edge.

I like to take a look at all the things Gretchen does for her LSS and CC here at her Blog
she is an everyday kind of gal and I relate to her on many levels, she still finds time to scrap and be a cretive muse.

I have to put Lindsay Teague here too- she makes me laugh out loud somedays and other days she really has great photos- sometimes when she doesn't update I visit her blog anyway! Her's is screen shots

well I am like Angie and now I will be thinking of some more to add here to my blog crushes, thanks ladies for all the inspirations to keep on doing my favorite fun activity - scrapping my family and photos.

worlds shortest pesonality quiz

Your Personality Profile

You are elegant, withdrawn, and brilliant.
Your mind is a weapon, able to solve any puzzle.
You are also great at poking holes in arguments and common beliefs.

For you, comfort and calm are very important.
You tend to thrive on your own and shrug off most affection.
You prefer to protect your emotions and stay strong.

here is the henna tattoo - I love that it came out so cool

we used a fixative for an hour after the application of the paste in the photo below! and this is how it came out! this was so cool and the color is so mello, it is very arty and HH loves it. I really like the little crack texture that the inside of the main body of the sun has.

HH used her own money to get it and is very proud of how well we had it turn out.

from Keri Smith-wish jar journal

wish Jar journal Blog - writes this quote that she got from Jen's site.

"every day, passion speaks to us through our feelings. that's why when you allow yourself to become anesthetized by what others think, you literally block yourself from living the life you were called to live.
i promise you that if you make a choice that doesn't please your mate, your friends, your mother, or whoever, the world will not fall apart -- the people who truly love you want you to love yourself. and as you become clearer about who you really are, you'll be better able to decide what is best for you -- the first time around." ~Oprah Winfrey(found on Jen's site)

Amazing words and concept to live by! I have found this to be true in my own life- it is still hard to take that first step of faith though and make the hard decisions.

Terry Fode has a new book but also info

on SBA loans and grants for Katrina survivors. Her web Blog entry askes that you e-mail her directly for more information. All persons have to register first at the FEMA phone number or web site and have a registration number.

Thanks for passing this information along to others.

The book looks great, I can't wait to see it IRL!! she has such great photos and ideas.

Father Jake Stops the World

this is his interesting article

I think he is right- people should take responsiblity for themselves and the local leaders need to be hard nosed in times like these. The people who can't get out need to be moved out.
