I have been Tagged

The Grunt- whom I have the distinct pleasure of being his best lurker. made me do it.

The rulz:"Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog,"

1. I find these lists of factoids hard to do sometimes LOL

2. I think I am a good driver and knock on wood here have never been given a ticket ( other than a parking ticket) I have been driving for 28 years!

3. I am near sighted in one eye and far sighted in the other, so the doctor has said I have the best of both worlds. I found that reading Harry Potters last adventure I am finally getting older eyes and need to actually read with out my glasses on for a while because I asked the eye doc last time to make my glasses a little more to the mid range ( for the computer work I do)

4. I am a messy desk - but know where everything is kind of girl. I am messilly organized I think.

5. I have lately enjoyed getting pedicures so much I am considering making this a regular part of my beauty routine.

6. I rarely use soap on my face... I have cleansing routines don't get me wrong, I just don't use regular soap. I get told I have nice skin though.

7. I absolutley adore the art and books of author Susan Branch She is my Idol - she started her art later in life and still is enjoying it today- check her out.

8. I have another artist I enjoy looking at her work as well ! my Talented Aunt Sunny. NO wonder I want to be an artist when I grow up !

Tag your IT next, Swamp angel, Kate, Susy Q, big Heavy, And you if you would like to do this too and YOu are readding along here!

so I am off to give some blog love and tags to those above.
Back to you all on sunday with some photos I hope of my adventure.

coming up soon- an adventure

The end of the week will bring a new adventure for me called Wood badge- it is part of the BSA program for adult volunteers. I am looking forward to learning a few things about myself and working with others in teams and troops and patrols.

I will spend two weekends this month joining with other volunteer scouters learning lots of new things and committing to some additional program responsibilities. We are going to be at Camp Tahosa and I will take my camera - at least to document for my self this adventure.
We will be camping in this the " lower Meadow" but have been told we won't have facilities for washing! so three stinky days are in the making. I have a backpack, my essentials, fun stuff and a borrowed tent and sleeping bag, as well as a cot. I have done a trial run in putting my tent up by myself if I have too.
I have been walking everyday for the last 20 days, so I hope I will get around ok. I should have thought of a walking stick but I might be able to find something there if I need it. I have a good pair of boots and the boys are going to let me borrow a rain poncho- ( cause we are in the afternoon thunderstorm period)

silly boy

gave J some cowboy boots that have been in my closet for a few years, they were a friend of ours ( his name is Tony and he has severe alzheimers - He and J were friends since J was a new born, he and his wife Alice have always been good to J) so anyway the boots have sentimental value as well as a place in J's wardrobe. as soon as he had them on- he went to his room, to put on the dickies gray jeans and tell me mom look at me! I told him you look like a Mexican cowboy we see out at the flea market !! LOL :) and so now to complete the look, go get my straw hat with the pheasant feather hat band :) What do you say?? such a silly guy- but the boots hit the right spot in his heart.

yeah I have worked one week today! everyone in my office is nice, I am happy to report that I already have such a great background in benefits that this is to my advantage and I can focus on learning the basics of peoplesoft and support works and not have to worry about the basics.

I will try to take my camera with me in the next few days and show you my new office with two windows! on the 6th floor.
I am sorry this is not much of an update, but I am wiped and on brain overload at the moment.

I Can't believe a week has gone by....

It has been a busy and full week. Monday we had a funeral at the church for the father of one of the best guys. They are involved in scouting and he had at least 300 people there and we fed at least 200 of them.

Then on Tuesday it was off to work for my very first day as a benefits councelor at CU!! and some meeting new people, learning hings being introduced to at least 50 people, who know my name, but I won't remember every one. Then Wed I trained a bit, as well as thursday. And On thursday and Friday I road the RTD (bus) yeah me. So I have had a busy fun first week.

Hh had a grand time at the Grands, and R and J had a grand time being teenage boys here! it was nice to get to spend time with the boys together, and I think they enjoyed themselves too. Steven went to get Hh at my mom's on friday night and R leaves on Monday to go home, so he got time with the grands too.

Saturday - was a busy day for us as well, at least in the morning, Hh and SSD1 had Karate graduation and are now both orange belts!!! and there will be photos here too.

For me orientation for a BSA course called Wood Badge : This is an advanced training course for Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, and Venturing Leaders. Its focus is on leadership, not out-of-doors skills. Participants will be able to:View Scouting as a family of interested, values-based programs Recognize contemporary leadership concepts Apply skills they learn from participation as a member of a successful working team Revitalize commitment by sharing in an experience

And coming up tomorrow J will be going to an alternative School call Front Range academy it is part of a larger network call Hope co-op. ( this is an article in the denver post)

toes, toes? who knows

Hh and I indulged in a little pedicure action yesterday, hers are neon orange ( in fact the glow in the black light) and mine are a firey carribean pink. - so I don't know how this is correct, funny anyway.

Your Toes Should Be Black
A total rulebreaker (and heartbreaker), you're always a little punk rock.
Your flirting style: Wacky and a bit shocking
Your ideal guy: An accomplished artist, musician, or writer
Stay away from: Preppy guys looking for a quick bad girl fling

Last Night

We went to the Rockies game and saw great fireworks again this year. The post yesterday had last years photos in them. What a blast a full house and of course the Rockies won and had a sweep on the homestand this time. They beat the Mets 17 to 6 what a game. The Mets scored early on but the Rockies came back hard with a ton of hits and runs.

the game time was 6:05 and we got home about 11:30 pm what a blast. The fireworks were fantastic and great music and fans were let on the field, so here are some shots from Coors Field.

Hh and I were first up in our row, we sat up high but this is also the best vantage for the fireworks.

it was quite warm in the afternoon sun, but the evening progressed and right before the fireworks we actually had a rain shower. I can't say enough about the quality of spending our 4th of july here at the stadium, there was a jet fly by and lots of patriotic songs and good spirits. What a nice time to be together.

musical Meme

1. Go to the Billboard #1 Hits Listings (scroll down and you’ll see them separated by decades on the left in the sidebar).
2. Pick the year you turned 18.
3. Get yourself nostalgic over the songs of the year.
4. Pick 5 songs and write something about how these songs affected you.
5. Pass it on to more friends.

Well I was 18 in 1982 so can I count the year leading up to it as well?? scince that was when I graduated high school and moved on the college these are from 1981

March 7 - March 20: I Love A Rainy Night Eddie Rabbitt

This song reminds me of my friend Sylvia and a friend of hers too, who drove a truck over the road -and was a good looking guy. The line about the windsheild wipers always brings them to mind.

March 21 - March 27: Keep On Loving You - REO Speedwagon

REO - helped me through college. there are very few songs that they have that I don't know so when ever I hear them it brings back great times at Linfeild for me.

August 1 - August 14: Jessie's Girl - Rick Springfield

oh who didn't love Noah Drake on General Hospital. and Rick is back these days making me nostalgic for the simpler life and times. My mom has been a gh fan for as long as I can remember. So this is associated with her for me.

October 17 - November 6: Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do) - Christopher Cross

Chris Cross - where did he go?? he had one or two albums and did some songs that I really liked, so I picked this one cause " sailing " didn't make it on the list!!! maybe i need to go find some of his stuff for my shuffle list.

and from 1982
March 20 - May 7: I Love Rock n' Roll - Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

What can I say this is as good of an anthem today as it was 25 years ago! I loved her kick ass attitude in this song, as well as bad reputation.

Happy birthday America

Thank you American Service men and Women for letting me live in a country that is free.
Where American is Baseball and Apple-pie and Mom.
from a site called info please - where you can read the entire document

The Declaration of Independence
On April 12, 1776, the legislature of North Carolina authorized its delegates to the Continental Congress to join with others in a declaration of separation from Great Britain; the first colony to instruct its delegates to take the actual initiative was Virginia on May 15. On June 7, 1776, Richard Henry Lee of Virginia offered a resolution to the Congress to the effect “that these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States. . . .” A committee consisting of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Robert R. Livingston, and Roger Sherman was organized to “prepare a declaration to the effect of the said first resolution.” The Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776. Most delegates signed the Declaration August 2, but George Wythe (Va.) signed August 27; Richard Henry Lee (Va.), Elbridge Gerry (Mass.), and Oliver Wolcott (Conn.) in September; Matthew Thornton (N.H.), not a delegate until September, in November; and Thomas McKean (Del.), although present on July 4, not until 1781 by special permission, having served in the army in the interim.

what kind of diamond

You’re a cushion-cut diamond! You’re sentimental, thoughtful, and attracted to things of lasting value, so it’s no surprise that the vintage-inspired cushion-cut sparkler is the most fitting reflection of your personality. An offshoot of the “old mine” style, the pillow-shaped diamond mirrors your love for old-fashioned ways. Additionally, its antique appeal combined with your throwback charm make this style set in stone.

Yeah- HERE IT IS- The GOOD NEWS

I am now( soon as the back ground check is done-- the 9th of July I hope) an Employee of the State of Colorado Employed by the Personnel and Benefits office!!! @ the University of Colorado- Boulder.

that said you can look up the office here at PBS or you can start on the home pages here at CU **

This is what has been in the works for a while. I have been patiently waiting for this job, I took the exam for " general professional I" back in February and had a 1st interview at the beginning of March. Then was turned down on the initial go round of available jobs because I know French (and do not have a fluent Spanish speaking capabilities) :) . But the Manager in Charge was wonderful and wanted me to know how good I was and how they wanted me!!! so she asked if there were another position, or they could somehow get me on temp to hire would I consider those?? yes yes I said with enthusiasm. So fast forward to the beginning of May- I got a call from the Manager, wanting to know if I was still interested and available?? Yes Yes I said I am!! Well to make an even longer story of it.... they had two people retiring and then an open season and the end to their fiscal year.... well I had another interview this time with the director and another manager ( team Lead) , they called me that day for my Professional references and By Friday I had the Job offer by phone!!!!! So this morning I went in and made the offer official and signed and completed lots of paperwork , I am only a background check away from starting this JOB!!! so there you have it. Thanks for sticking with me this far.
