keeping up the good work

from Lifehacker web site - interesting stratagies.

Author Gretchen Rubin has some interesting strategies for keeping up your exercise routine. A couple of my favorites:

  • Always exercise on Monday. This sets the psychological pattern for the week.
  • Never skip exercising for two days in a row. You can skip a day, but the next day, you must exercise no matter how inconvenient.
  • Give yourself credit for the smallest effort. My father always said that all he had to do was put on his running shoes and close the door behind him.

from my log at kp-10ksteps

To date you have taken 215,490 steps. This is about equal to: 107.7 miles (173.4 km)

1st Day steps tracked: 3/20/2006

yeah!! For me and H - we are constantly looking for walking stratagies

I need some sympathy tonight

these two books, are packaged together in a plastic box with extra sharp corners. - They fell off a shelf above my head at work today, and hit me in the forhead with the corner of the plastic box, gouged me and made me bleeed.

two boxes slid out of the shelf when I tilted the box to get the guides for a customer! I stood there and cursed out loud. , I am not sure I won't get a huge bruise too, if I do I will try to get a photo of my head tomorrow.

for tonight it is advil and off to rest in bed for a while.

cool enough -

the office is cool enough we have the swamp cooler going since this morning. We can do this because our humidity here is so small and the air so dry that it actaully helps to run it.

Mine at home needs adjustment - the boys have to get back up on the roof and adjust the water float- so it doesn't overflow. ( kind of like the toilet float LOL )
here is the link to this copied information

Advantages of an Evaporative Cooler

bullet

An evaporative cooler use as much as 75 percent less electricity as air conditioning does.

bullet

An evaporative cooler costs about half as much as an air conditioner that will cool the same sized area.

bullet

An evaporative cooler operate on 120-volt electricity, which means they don't need special high-amperage circuits like many air conditioners do.

bullet

The moist pads from an evaporative/swamp cooler are fairly efficient air filters, trapping some dust and pollen.

bullet

A small evaporative cooler can be often placed in windows, much like a window air conditioner. Evaporative cooling requires simple installation from a reputable heating and cooling company.

bullet

An evaporative cooler can cool outside air and blow it into your residential or commercial business re-circulating stale inside air.

bullet

The evaporative cooler pads can be made of wood shavings - aspen trees is a popular choice.
